Muslims commonly believe that Jesus was not crucified, due to a vague Qur’ānic verse that could be interpreted that God raised Him before he died. Many Islamic commentators have tried to explain this verse by various means, such as:

  • Changing the order of the words;
  • Suggesting that a sleeping death is inferred instead of literal death.
This tract shows that none of the Islamic explanations offer a satisfactory reason for denying the actual death of Jesus Christ on the cross, especially as it is clearly attested to in the Gospels and other historical writings of the period.

The Muslim is encouraged to look to the Bible for clarity on this subject and to understand not only the fact of Christ’s death but its meaning—a perfect sacrifice for sin for any sinner who accepts Christ’s sacrifice to be justified before God, to be forgiven and to possessing the gift of eternal life. The Muslim is urged to put his trust and faith in Jesus thus applying the atonement for sin to his life.
