In this tract, a comparison is made between the meaning of “Christ, the Word of God” in the Qur'ān and the Bible. According to the Qur'ān, the Word of God is used exclusively for Jesus and is meant to convey the uniqueness of His message and life as a prophet. In some commentaries, the “Word of God” means the good news given to Mary, in others, it means that God created Jesus through using the word “be.” Thus, He is the embodied Word spoken, and still others conclude that the “Word of God” means that Christ came into being without an earthly father.

In the Bible, the “Word of God” is eternal and is God Himself. This title, as applied to Jesus, infers that God Himself is in Christ:

“they will look on Me whom they have pierced”;
YHWH, Father God is speaking, yet it is fulfilled in Jesus;
The Bible refers to God as “the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, who is and was and is to come, the Almighty”, and this same title is given to identify Jesus.

The conclusion is that Christ is the eternal Word and the eternal Hope, in Him dwells the fullness of God bodily. Through His death, God is reconciling us to Himself. The voluntary and personal nature of placing one’s trust in Jesus for salvation is clearly outlined for the Muslim to consider.
